This National Park, which is very rich in fauna and flora, including rare and even unique species, is immediately considered an attraction by all those who privilege vast, bright and unspoiled horizons, where the pleasure of having intimate contact with nature and the hospitality of the local people provide those who visit the area with the sense of peace and harmony which is extremely necessary but so hard to find nowadays.
Alcaria is, in essence, a traditional mountain village with secular houses and it is a natural place of interest for those who visit this Park.
In order to take advantage of this wonderful contact with the mountainous landscape in singular moments of intimate connection, Alcaria Riding Centre provides a variety of horse riding activities in a unique combination of nature, sports and leisure.

Ourém

Since the Romans to the Visigoths, and up to the Muslims, Ourém has a long history of successive occupations. Initially called Abdegas, Ourém was then called Auren after the Moors had been driven out by King Afonso Henriques, and this designation derived into Ourém, as it is known today.
Its castle, one of the most beautiful Portuguese castles, is one of the municipality’s main attractions.
With a privileged view over the medieval village, the city of Ourém and the Seiça Creek, it is impossible to be indifferent to its natural beauty and its strong history of conquests, kings and enchanted Moorish women.
